Ethical Food Critic: The Vegas Foodie

I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to run across a critic like Dominic Scali!  I’ve grown skeptical of “critics’ reviews” on restaurants, especially in Las Vegas.  But then, it is a daunting and expensive proposition to keep up current reviews on so many showcase restaurants by a number of our country’s best chefs (in addition to the other normal restaurants about town).  Do take the time to check out his restaurant reviews.

My Review of DEAN & DELUCA Italian Spice Stack

Italian herbs for all salad and cooking needs: basil, oregano, rosemary and thyme. Airtight tins protect them from light and moisture.

Top Quality Doesn’t Mean Expensive!

By The Frugal Foodie from San Diego, CA on 12/9/2010

5out of 5

Pros: High quality, Flavorful, Incredible Value, Economical

Best Uses: Gifts, Pasta, Salads, Stews, Marinade, Meats

Describe Yourself: Foodie, Frequent Diner, Gourmand, Value Shopper, Health Conscious

People assume that high quality means expensive. On the contrary at Dean & Deluca! I did the math, and the per ounce prices for the inferior quality herbs & spices at the supermarket were more expensive than Dean & Deluca!!!

Anthony Bourdain No Reservations is coming! Get your tickets NOW!

If you missed Anthony Bourdain when he came to the California Center for the Arts in Escondido, then now is your chance to catch him in Southern Calfornia again!  He will be in Cerritos, CA Friday Feb. 18th, and in Palm Desert, CA Saturday Feb. 19th.   I was fortunate enough to have a very loving and generous gentleman get me a ticket to this hilarious and TOTALLY uncensored event last September, and able to ask Tony B. about his partaking of ganga while filming in Jamaica.

Known as “the bad boy of cuisine” for his rock star looks and acerbic wit, celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain returns to the McCallum for an evening of his blunt observations about food, travel, and whatever else is on his mind.   Anthony Bourdain offers food for thought on a colorful range of topics, including his views on the culture of cooking, globalization, leadership, and the celebrity-chef phenomenon. The outspoken globe-trotting food connoisseur and best-selling author hosts the popular Emmy-winning series No Reservations. A question-and-answer session will follow Bourdain’s lecture.
